Canadian artists Thilo Folkerts and Rodney Latourelle have shaped some 40,000 books into a mega-installation of literature. The evocative installation, dubbed as Jardin de la Connaissance, was created for the International Festival des Jardins de Metis. More than 30 tons of books became rooms, walls, benches, floors and what not.
As visitors make their way through the installation, they could see books decomposing and blending with nature. Eight edible mushroom varieties will grow on selected, discarded editions to accelerate the decomposition process.
