Electronic Waste usually causes serious health and pollution problems. Sometimes it keeps on piling in the garbage pile or allows some very serious contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium and brominated flame-retardants to poison our natural resources. Anyhow, Miguel Rivera, a systems administrator, has an eye for finding some positives amid everything gloomy about e-waste. He uses the used hard drives to fashion truly striking auto sculptures and robots.

His sculptures include a car made of 33 hard drives, a mini car that took 29 hard drives, a fat boy motorcycle with 36 discs and dedicated to the US “selfless troops”, and his masterpiece i.e. a robot made from 14 laptop hard drives, 18 additional discs from gutted hard drives and spare parts. The robot also includes a cable management arm from a Dell 2950. He works very hard, usually “a five-day, 12-hour-shift work week” to lend his works of art with beauty and grace.
