French industrial designer Charles Teyssier collaborated with Venezuelan designer Alejandro P. Figuerado to bring a remarkable specimen of tensile architecture into existence. Christened as X-tension, the installation makes use of tensile solar panels and LED-based micro illuminations to add radiance to otherwise dark environs.

A battery that keeps accumulating solar energy during the day powers the low power consuming illumination when it is dark. The installation was displayed at Domaine de Boisbuchet, Center of Experimental Design of the Vitra Design Museum. Power Film, the Iowa-based solar panel company allowed the designers to use its photovoltaic panels for the installation.
