The greener answer to the carbon guzzlers most definitely are electric cars. In coming times, we will see the roads being flooded with them, but the big question still remains how can charging the EVs be made affordable and convenient. There aren’t many electric car charging stations available today. The state of Washington is here with an ingenious plan. Last week Gov. Chris Gregoire announced the state's plans for the country's first electric highway.

As part of the EV Project, a $230 million federal study into the needs and driving habits of electric car drivers, the state is planning to introduce as many as 5,000 charge stations. The 1,300-mile electric highway that stretches from the Mexican border in California to the Canadian border in Washington will see stations in four states namely Washington, California, Arizona and Tennessee. You will get to see a station after every 80 miles.
