For many Americans, this April may have been a pleasant spring, but it is not the same for environmentalists. They say April 2006 proved to be the warmest on record for the United States. According to the National Climatic Data Center, the average temperature for the 48 contiguous states was 4.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which is above normal for the month.
