The burnt of the record warmth for the period is felt in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. On the other hand, no state experienced cooler-than-average temperatures, according to NOAA's National Climatic Data Center scientists in Asheville, N.C.

This finding bolstered the previous finding -- 2005 as the warmest year on record for the entire globe.
