Uganda Telecom debuts its first solar-powered handset, dubbed the Kasana. Though it comes with a conventional AC socket, it harnesses the solar power to keep going through those endless hours since it’s the main source.

ZTE has authorized Utl to deal in the solar-powered mobile handsets. The landmark deal will allow Ugandan customers to lessen their dependence on conventional electricity sources to stay connected. Mind you, Uganda is passing through a patchy power crisis.
Sans any specifics, Utl takes pride in announcing that the solar handset is manufactured from recycled materials. It has a built-in solar panel that efficiently keeps it charged for 12 hours for an hour of exposure to the sun. Lest sol plays foul, Uganda telecom makes sure to sell the phone with a travel charger.
