UAE to recycle discarded gadgets to aid Pakistani flood victims

The people living in certain areas of Sindh and most of Balochistan in Pakistan prayed for rains to fight the drought-like condition earlier this year, but I am sure none of them wished for a downpour that killed at least 1,600 people and left millions homeless. The recent floods have not only forced millions to live in tents, but have also raised the fear of water-borne diseases. In an attempt to offer a helping hand to the affected, a Dubai-based electronics recycler the Green Foundation has collaborated with Emax and Choithram to raise money for the victims.

The UAE team will recycle discarded electronics like mobile phone, laptop, digital camera, iPod or MP3 players and games consoles, and the proceeds will go to projects to help the victims through UNICEF. They will be installing drop boxes in all Emax electronics stores and Choithram supermarkets in the UAE, where people could deposit all their unwanted electronics. This scheme will not only provide much needed funds for the flood victims, but with recycling involved will also save the local environment.
