Brooks Twilley, 30, a former civilian engineer at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, wishes to develop a taste for science and technology among children at the P.S. du Pont Middle School in Wilmington. And he’s doing really well in making them learn the basics of alternative energy via a school assignment that includes hands-on learning with solar-powered go-karts.

They're creating that little spark, and it becomes a great flame. Seeing kids who might not be engaged all of a sudden like going to school makes all the difference in the world.
School Principal Lincoln Hohler says while expressing his satisfaction.
Twilley is presently teaching five STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classes as part of a half-year project. The children through practical experience are now more aware of things like speed, distance and relativity. Another project for the STEMgineers – school kids at STEM – will begin in January, wherein the kids will study buoyancy, wind power and the hydroponic greenhouse.
