Trash goes trendy with Veronica Coleman’s Trashion

Trashion 2

If we all decide to recycle the unwanted stuff and use it to make clothes instead, we’d definitely be showcasing a hip and trendy outlook towards life in general. This way, we will not only go green, but also install creativity by coming up with fresh and new ideas as to how to make use of those things we thought were drab. Trashion by Veronica Coleman points us exactly in that direction. The eco-conscious designer recycles used items and creates hand made designs which range from everyday wear to the more obscure. Her idea of Trashion show was to show people how fun and fashionable sustainability can be.

Apart from being different in a hip sort of way, you also get to do the environment some good by using recycled goods in everyday scenarios. Veronica Coleman truly made a difference by reusing old ties, paper, garbage bags etc., showing us the trendy, creative side to recycling, as well as going green. Here’s what she featured on her show:

Trashion 1

1. A wedding dress made out of coffee filters graced the ramp in all its glory. Over 2000 coffee filters were put together for creating a puffy white dress. It’s an eco friendly and fashionable move for sure. Accessorized with a blingy ring created from an old flash bulb added grandeur to the otherwise subtle look. A huge puffy head piece, again made out of coffee filters put together, and a lemon yellow belt completed the look of the 21st century, eco friendly bride.

2. Every girl should have a little black dress in her closet for those cocktail dates and nights out. If it is recycled, then even better. The shiny, hot little black garbage bag dress, which was featured along with a pretty cassette tape belt, has ‘gorgeous’ written all over it.

3. The recycled potato sacks were put to good use by creating dresses in various styles, like the shoulder dress, mini dress, tube dress and off shoulder dress, which were quirky and fun.

4. The crowd pleaser, however, was the uber chic cocktail dress made from Rolling Stone magazines. Hundreds of hearts cut out from the magazine and stitched together to form a short tube dress were more than perfect. Its pairing with a head piece made out of playing cards added that extra touch of glamor.

5. The dress made out of Mardi Gras beads were very Hawaiian in nature with beads dangling from the hem and accessories to complement the look.

6. A puffy ruffle skirt made out of used newspaper was simple but creative. A huge puffy hand piece made out of paper was also an eye catcher.
