Toyota SAI goes greener with DuPont Sorona interiors

Desh Raj SharmaJan 18 2010

Already hailed as an eco-hybrid, the Toyota SAI will seek to green its ceiling surface skin, sun visor and pillar garnish with DuPont Sorona – a renewably sourced polymer. Since the novel material helps in reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the sustainable fabrication confirms Toyota’s commitment toward the environment.

Entailing a profusion of plant-based eco-plastics for the 60% of its internal surface area, the PTT resin is a by-product coming from DuPont biotechnological fermentation process. Consequently, it lessens the dependence on fossil fuels for the petroleum-based materials. Sorona offers a rich texture that nowhere compromises on softness as well.
