Despite being the usual course of treatment for cancer nowadays and a boon for the ailing cancer patients, chemotherapy exposes the healthy cells, bone marrow, reproductive system and hair follicles to irreparable damage at the same time. Suggesting another cure for cancer patients, the University of Texas at El Paso researchers now look toward tiny photovoltaic cells to remove cancerous cells.

Researchers created a tiny solar cell, bordered it with alternatively charged model drugs and later, exposed it to infrared or laser light blast that released the drugs over at a specific juncture. The method enables physicians to deliver the medical payload with precision and better control.
