A new electric bike is on its way to win heart of millions with its green credentials. Ducati has launched its first electric bike called the ‘Pearl City’. The unveiling was done at the Hall of biking Friedrichshafen in Germany. Designers and Italwin Ducati Design Center built the model jointly. The eco-friendly bike will hit the market in January 2010.


The Pearl City comes equipped with a 250-watt motor, propelling a top speed of 24 kilometers per hour. It also incorporates a Panasonic lithium battery that resides at the rear of the bike. The bike is a result of three years of cooperation between Ducati Motor Holding and Italwin Group. The bike comes in two versions, catering to the need of both the genders. To get your eyes on it, you will have to make it to the EICMA Motorcycle Show. As for its availability, you can get your hands on it at all the major bike shops and the Ducati stores.
