When you grow trees in containers, the roots start spiraling the moment they get in contact with the flat bottom of the container. It results in unstable and unhealthy trees. Just to make sure that the trees grow healthy in a defined urban environment, Superoots, a Caledonia Tree Company, has come up with Air-pot. Made from recycled HDPE, the reusable tree-container comes in a roll with a perforated sidewall to shield the plant's foundation without constraining its growth.

The cuspated walls contains closed inward pointing cones and open ended outward-pointing cones. Since there are no flat surfaces on the inside of the container, the roots don’t deflect and coil. Furthermore, the Air-Pots air-prune and dehydrate the roots of the tree. This pruning is compensated with the generation of more roots leading to a dense root system. The porous container boosts the bacterial activity which is so very important for sustainable plant growth.
