Sunspots are to be blamed for heavy rains in Africa

Although, global warming has been mostly blamed for climate change, people should take the sunspots into consideration as well. A recent observation by the scientists, made them conclude that sunspots are to be blamed for heavy African rains. The heavy rains, flooding and even the insect borne diseases in Africa may be because of sunspots.

However, it's not only just the sunspots. It's the increased 'brightening of the sun' due to the presence of the sunspots. With the new development, the scientists can accurately predict when the rains might occur.

J. Curt Stager of Paul Smith's College in New York mentioned recently:

So you get a double-whammy amplifying effect from what would otherwise be a weak solar signal.

The solar cycle running in 11 year phases will affect the upper atmosphere. Researchers have discovered a pattern of heavy rainfall. Also, they predict that, if the pattern holds, heavy rains will max out in Eastern part of the dark continent, during the sunspot activity of 2011 and 12.

The study team involved researchers from California Institute of Tech., folks from the University of East Anglia. Also, the Institute of Ecology of the University of Georgia participated in the study. The study was published in the Aug.7th issue of the journal: Atmosphere. I think so far , scientists have done a great job. I am sure there are other factors like sunspots contributing to climate change.
