Student transforms trash to a stunning rainbow dress

It is quite fascinating to see the world thinking on green lines, but what is even more inspirational is to observe young students walk the green pavement. Nichola Jackson, a student of All Hallows Catholic High School in Penwortham, has beautifully designed an unusual dress made completely of rubbish. It is interesting to see how she transformed old sweet wrappers from her trash into a stunning recycled rainbow dress.

The 16-year-old has incorporated a variety of materials and textiles that had already been used and can be easily recycled. A good 12 to 16 weeks of labor went into making the magnificent dress for which she was awarded an A* grade in her GCSE textiles project. Nichola attended evening classes at her school, where under the guidance of her textiles teacher she learned to adapt her own pattern and techniques to complete this beautiful work of art. She stitched the entire dress by sewing waste material over cotton.

The GCSE textiles project for which the multi-hued dress was made aimed to promote recycling. Seeing the student’s work, I must say the goal has successfully been achieved.
