SOPHOCLES: Solar-powered robotic system monitors toxic gases

Desh Raj SharmaSep 16 2009

Here is a solar-powered robotic device just to purge the air of pestilence; it’s not a purifier actually, but a detector in fact. Dubbed as the Solar Powered Hidden Observing Vehicles or the SOPHOCLES, the robot system is specially programmed to keep a close watch on the level of poisonous gases or sticky air. It has a built-in camera to spot the high-risk areas. So, once it gets any info about hazardous gases, it is displayed on the radio screen.

The robot works at autonomous and command mode depending on the guiding acumen. Autonomous mode allows it to make optimum use of the implemented artificial intelligence while the command mode is effective when you want to control it manually.
