Mass rapid transit system is an efficient way to resolve the urban traffic problem. However, given the increasing traffic congestion new ways have to be devised so that more and more people can travel without adding up to the traffic jams. Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co., Ltd has proposed ‘straddling bus’ as a cheaper, greener and faster commuter alternative.

These gigantic buses model look like a subway or light-rail train that utilize the space between regular-size cars and bridges to maneuver. The buses will run 4-4.5 meter high with cars and other vehicles plying nearly 2m underneath. Powered by electricity and solar energy the bus can carry 1200-1400 passengers at a speed of up to 60km/h. It is believed that the buses will reduce traffic jams by 20-30%.
