San Francisco Parks Trust’s call to turn the temporarily abandoned Hayes Valley into a community-oriented park has received tremendous response from the city residents. Way ahead of the City’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development’s proposal of erecting 239 residential units over the space in two to five years, the resolute volunteers have done a great job in greening Hayes Valley Farm by composting, greenhouse propagation, SF-specific plant selection, bee keeping, garden designing and edible landscaping.

For the newbies, the farm is offering special workshops, classes, site tours and work parties. Still, they need to resign to the fact when the city administration decides to start the construction, all the good work done will go to pieces.
