We at Greendiary have already introduced you to the way recycled Christmas trees promote aquatic life. This time yet again, we are here to show you how Christmas trees are being transformed into fish habitat. Seven agencies namely Anglers United of Lake Havasu, Bureau of Reclamation, United States Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department and California Fish and Game Department have collaborated to gift fishes at Lake Havasu with new green habitat.

As part of the project, as many as 375 recycled Christmas trees picked clean of tinsel, adorned with a sandbag were tossed into the lake today. A biodegradable sand bag that will disintegrate over time was tied to each tree and thrown into the lake to give fishes the necessary but constantly dwindling fish habitat under the lake’s surface. Using large, flat barge-type boats, some four of five loads of trees were brought and dumped in some of the 42 coves off the shores of Lake Havsu. Earlier also nearly 500 trees were donated to the program for this noble cause.
