Power Flowers: Wind-run turbines help lighten nature's load

Sahil KhuranaMar 3 2011

Amsterdam, the land of windmills, is now the home of the "Power Flowers." As the name aptly suggests, by making use of wind power, now it would be possible to locate windmills in densely populated areas. Created by Amsterdam Based Studio, NL Architects, these Power Flowers are much more than just a name. The architects will equip wind turbines with smaller propellers, which would create a small cluster of these Power Flowers, helping in electricity generation.

Prepared in a tree-like structure, its safe design provides it an upper hand over the traditional windmill models. Mounted on a vertical axis, these devices can produce energy from wind, irrespective of the direction. An added benefit is that these turbines can be connected to smart grids and solar panels. Ideal for domestic as well as commercial consumption, these newly designed wind turbines, when in motion, can help solve the power problems for many nations in one go.

These little, powerful, and elegant turbines are an aesthetic sight for the eyes. No more problems of power cuts, and no more reasons to crib over power losses, you can do uninterrupted work.

Helping to ease the power load, these mechanisms convert wind energy into electricity in a smart way. The simplistic design works in favor of the device. Like the traditional turbines, these power flowers require five times less space and an even lighter infrastructure setup. It’s a win-win situation for the end user.

It feels good to observe how we as humans can lend a helping hand toward nature by doing such small things. Though the efforts may look small, they contribute in a big way toward enhancing the effort being put in.
