Polo Per l’innovazione Strategica relies on renewable energy for power

With an aim to come up with new business strategies by bringing the university world, the business consulting world and the entrepreneurial world under one roof, Portogruaro council along with Portogruaro campus kick started the work of the new “Polo Per l’innovazione Strategica.” Completed by Italian architect Marco Acerbis, the new multifunctional building is a certified Casaclima class A+ building, made of eco-sustainable materials and using only renewable energy.

The Polo Per l’innovazione Strategica is part of the development of Eastgate Park, the largest logistic and industrial master plan in the northeast of Italy. It is said to spread over an areas of 1.8 million of square meters. The structure features photovoltaic louvers that act both as solar shades and as solar panels to generate energy. It also has room for geothermal power to contribute toward the environment.

Black Gres tiles cover the entire façade, allowing the inner core of the walls to cool naturally and keep them protected. The Polo Per l’innovazione Strategica houses many offices and a 150-capacity spacious conference hall that is naturally top lit. In order to improve its acoustic properties, the ceiling is made using many silver anodized aluminum honeycomb panels with of 2mm holes that are capable of trapping sound.
