PNC’s six-story green wall makes the headquarter more energy-efficient

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. has taken the green revolution a step further with the unveiling of its new green wall. The six-story tall wall making the headquarter building at Fifth Avenue and Wood Street in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania more energy-efficient is the largest green wall in North America. Designed by Kari Katzander of Mingo Design of New York, the 2,380 sq. ft wall having 602 2x2 square foot panels with 24 plants per panel will offset the carbon footprint of one person.

PNC’s new green wall incorporates the use of stainless steel bracketing and panel system. It also includes an internally controlled irrigation system that fulfills wall’s 15 minutes of watering requirement weekly. PNC, the owner of dozens of LEED certified and LEED registered projects has gifted the city with cooler and quieter environment.
