Wish to build a home that is not only a portrayal of your taste and personality, but also your eco-consciousness? How about having a demo home to take ideas from? Builder Paul Arsenault plans to construct a new model home that is expected to be a model of energy-efficiency and will help convince homeowners to incorporate the design, as it is capable of saving both energy and money.

Dubbed the ‘Vision Home’, the two-storey, three-bedroom home will be built to the latest in energy-conservation standards for insulation and include a heat pump system to provide both hot and cool air. Photovoltaic panels will be installed to power the house. They will capture the sun's rays and convert them into electricity to run the building's systems, while the excess energy will go to the NB Power grid.
One of the winning entries in the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Equilibrium Sustainable Housing Demonstration Initiative, the Vision Home will be open for public tours for about six months after it is completed. After showing the public what exactly a green home looks like, it will be occupied by a real family and continuously monitored to see how it functions in real life. The construction work on Leopold Belliveau Street in Moncton has finally began after getting final approval.
