A newly installed methane digester at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, dog park is helping authorities to illumine the artworks lying sprawled across the site. Dubbed as Park Spark, the project is a sort of interactive urban intervention that uses dog poop to keep the digester running. The novel mechanism asks dog owners to feed and stir the mixture inside an underground mixer when needed.

Only a tube and a hand-crank are visible above ground. A pipeline transports the methane to gas burning lamppost and thus, assists the ‘eternal flame’ to be on fire always. Rightly billed as the first public digester for dogs, the concept awaits initiators who could use the alternative energy to power the shadow projection boxes, teahouses or popcorn stands.
