Imagine shrinking nature to fit into a 15-square-meter eco-system to provide a relaxing, peaceful and delightful atmosphere to an ordinary individual fighting for survival in a crowded urban environment. Well, this is exactly what Stefan Gzyl promises with his latest project titled “Parc Disponible”. Chosen as one of the finalists on an international competition recently held in Paris, this urban park is designed to satisfy specific recreational, hygienic, social and economic requirements of the city and its population.

The Parc Disponible is a glass box enclosing a mini-park for individual use that opens the senses to the intensified stimulation of nature in a simulated ecosystem. This oasis within the dense architectural structures of the city behaves like a park-for-one, a garden for individual and private relaxation and the momentary break from the urban environment.

Each of these glass boxes are capable of capturing and retaining rainwater, using it for irrigation, filtering and returning the rest to the city’s water supply. It will also help in filtering and purifying city air. Serving as both individual leisure and environmental device, this urban oasis allows members to get up close and personal with nature for maximum of 30 minutes.
