If Richard Pike, a former oil industry man who is currently the chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry is to be believed, oil shortage is nothing but a myth! Yes, you got me right; according to Dr. Pike the calculations of the amount of oil reserves present are flawed. If you are wondering why all the oil companies are keeping quiet, well Pike is of the opinion that oil majors are more than happy to go along with this so-called myth is because even they have a vested interest of keeping the prices of oil high by creating an artificial scarcity.

Can that really be so? One honestly needs to delve deeper into it. Dr. Pike’s observations would also mean that that the concept of Peak oil is a sham. For those not aware, peak oil is that point in time when the maximum rate of global petroleum production is reached, after which the rate of production enters its terminal decline, in other words the oil production has reached it’s peak and if energy consumption is not mitigated then obviously there will be an enormous energy crisis in the future.

Dr. Pike’s observations are like a death knell to the environmentalists who have relentlessly been urging the need to find greener alternatives. Not everyone is convinced by Pikes observations, Jeremy Leggett, author of Half Gone (a book on peak oil), is one of them.

Well, whether or not Peak oil myth is perpetuated by the globalists to gain more control of our lives, it is important that we look at alternative fuel resources because there is no denying the fact that fossil fuels pollute the environment. One sincerely hopes that Richard Pike is right, because then we can get back to the good old days!
