O-lec EV concept harvests power from the road

Sukhmani KaurJun 17 2010

We have come across an array of electric vehicle concepts powered by fuel cells and other sources. O-lec is a two seat electric vehicle concept with a difference. Designed by English designer Scott Gilbert the online electric vehicle seeks power from an unusual source, the road. The car extracts energy directly from the surface it is driving on using inductive power transfer instead of charging through a power cord or fuel cells. Its dolphin shaped sleek design allows double seating besides ensuring easy maneuverability through the congested traffic. The car which would be available in urban centers for short range driving has been envisaged for 2030 and beyond as an alternative to standard fuel or battery powered vehicles.
