While the world leaders in Copenhagen are discussing real big issues pertaining to climate change and global warming, NYC Transit, in the meantime, has done its share in unveiling a new electric bus with a turbine engine to keep the lithium-ion battery charged as it speeds through the lanes of New York. Designline, the manufacturer, has equipped the 37-seater bus with interiors lit by LED panels.

Since this is just the beginning and you could see 87 more buses decking the city lanes by the end of 2010, the reasonably silent buses could herald a new era of green transportation initiated by the New Zealand-based manufacturer.
