Nike launches Aston Villa Kit made from recycled plastic bottles

Aston Villa home kit

Let’s go green for soccer! That is what Nike planned for the English Premiere League Club, Aston Villa for 2011-12. Fans were awe-inspired as the players Darren Bent, winger Marc Albrighton and strikers Gabby Agbonlahor and Nathan Delfouneso walked in the classic styled home kit at the Star City, Birmingham.

To everyone’s delight the inspiration has been taken from the Birmingham City’s Barton Arms pub which declares itself through chequered pattern from its flag and light blue crew neck collar and light blue sleeves from the club colors. Announcing the inner pride for the players, the words “Pride of Birmingham” are inset on club crest back. A pair of white shorts and black socks with blue line on top plays the contrast well and compliments the classic style.

This time Nike is sure to add more Go-green fans to its list as they explore ways to make it environment friendly. Bent upon saving the Planet, Aston Villa’s each shirt is a master piece. Each piece is created from thirteen reused plastic bottles! Calling the History, style and Eco trend in mind, Nike’s effort towards ground-breaking recycled polyester can not be left untold. The discarded water bottles are reclaimed and processed to make the yarn. This reduces the consumption of energy by 30 % and also saves almost 100 million bottles from being left to be decomposed at landfill sites.

The players are bound to break more hearts, as this new range of extra stretch (17% more this season) shirts are aerodynamic fit and now looks more athletic. The minute laser cut holes stretch around the underarms till the waistband encourages sweat evaporation as a faster rate and making it comfortable even in those last hours. Now even the front side has been heat transferred to reduce sweating making the fabric lighter and has been made using NikeDri-FIT technology.

Well, don’t get disheartened this line is not only for the players, Nike says soon it will be coming up with similarly inspired range for lifestyle and training for the fans too.
