Fashioning sculptures from trash has become a trend these days for artists. Today, we are talking about the recycled steel sculptures that will surely add a whimsical touch to any space. There are a number of artists who keep themselves busy in providing an artistic connotation to steel snippets that otherwise would find a place in the junkyard or landfills. After the jump are some of the most amazing recycled steel sculptures that are a product of each individual artist’s inventive imagination.

• Steel Moose Sculpture:

This 9-foot beautiful metal sculpture is made by John Kearney. Located in front of 401 North Michigan just south of the Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue, the Steel Moose Sculpture is made using recycled automobile parts.
• Armored Toad:

This stunning toad measures some 31 inches long, 19 inches tall, and 38 inches wide. Called the “Armored Toad”, the sculpture is made using recycled galvanized steel and aluminum rivets.
• Recycled steel crocodile:

Created by Michael Turner Creative Metalwork and Sculpture Studios this 2 meter long and weighing some 70 kgs crocodile is indeed an exceptional piece of art. This amazing sculpture has been crafted from recycled stainless steel that was polished to give a finishing touch.
• Bull sculpture from recycled auto parts:

Eco-artist and sculptor Bettye Hamblen Turner has made use of trashed stainless steel, carbon steel and recycled auto and motorcycle parts to craft a stunning sculpture known as Paladin. The sculpture is the fifth in the Texas Longhorn Bull series of sculptures by the artist.
• Steel drum sculptures:



“From Haiti… Sculpture from Steel Drums,” featuring beautiful wall sculpture created by the earthquake devastated Haiti artists. It is hard to believe that the extraordinary pieces of art are made from recycled steel drums. More here.
• James Corbett steel sculptures:



Getting rid of your old car in an ecofriendly manner might not be as easy as it seems. Even if you give your car for recycling, it will take tons of fuel to melt down the metal to enable it to be reused. James Corbett has a different mindset as he reuses old car parts as they are into sculptures that can beautify your living room. The sculptures are available in a number of designs right from small decorative cars to animals and birds.
• Jack Sparrow recycled steel sculpture:

International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers of Albany, Oregon, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. To this day RoboSteel commissioned the Jack Sparrow sculpture that is made from 100% recycled steel.
• Recycled steel horse sculpture:

Brooksville artist James Oleson has created horse statue that reminds me of Equine – in front of City Hall in Brooksville. The sculpture is made of recycled steel. More here.
• Optimus Prime :

This one here is said to be the most amazing steel sculpture ever created by RoboSteel, an Irish company that specialized in creating artistic sculptures out of scrap metal. Dubbed the “Optimus Prime”, this 2.5 meters tall sculpture is made of over 5,000 recycled steel parts, collected from a car, a boat, a motorbike, a dishwasher, a television etc.
• Alien Queen:

Hollywood seems to be leaving its footmarks everywhere. Deriving inspiration from the character of the queen from the cult Hollywood franchise Alien, an Ireland-based company has developed a sculpture. RoboSteel has come up with a real-world version of the queen that is made from recycled steel.
• Haast eagle replica:

Dan Kelly has created a life-size replica of a Haast eagle made of about 100-year-old metal fence standards. If we go by the historical evidence available, the real Haast eagle used to weigh around 15kg and had a wingspan of 3m. And complementing it to the fullest, you won’t find Dan’s sculpture lacking in any of these measurements.
• Chris Cicala’s steel sculptures:


An artist finds a beautiful way of depicting his views on issues like the earth, environment and life. Chris Cicala, an Orland Park artist, shapes steel into stunning structures. Dedicate solely to the earth and its resources, is his collection called Terra Firma, or “solid earth” in Latin. More here.
• Queen Elizabeth sculpture:

British sculptor Ptolemy Elrington has sculptured the best forms out of used and discarded kitchen appliances as well as shopping carts. Hired by Kenwood to commemorate 60th anniversary of the company and Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, he crafted an 8-foot statue of the Queen from old/returned and broken cooking utensils and kitchen equipment. • Holly Fisher’s recycled steel horse:

Holly Fisher, one of the very few women blacksmiths in the US has crafted a stunning recycled steel horse sculpture. This amazing handmade sculpture helps in made from steel that would else go into the landfills.
• The Cleaner, Dentist and Hairdresser sculptures:



You think you have seen it all? Well, in that case check out these unique sculptures crafted from recycled steel and copper. You can see the cleaner doing the cleaning, the dentist working on the teeth and the hairdressers beautifying her client.
• Crab In The Works:

Gordon Mitchell has crafted something he calls the “Crab In The Works”. This huge watch sculpture by the sea is made using recycled steel.
