Now enjoy the thrill of gazing at amazing creatures and skating on crystal-clear ice under one roof. The Los Angeles Zoo has recently introduced a skating rink to add to your holiday celebration. However, what makes this new installation special is the fact that this skating rink is an eco-friendly hybrid-ice rink. You could also enjoy the ride of your life for 30 minutes by paying only $5.

BH Skating Parks, the manufacturer of the hybrid-ice, claims that the 1000 square foot hybrid-ice does not require the use of refrigeration units, generators, or electricity, as is made using a recyclable, polymer compound. It is not technically ice but an eco-friendly synthetic hybrid material sliding on which feels 10-15% slower than skating on traditional rinks. It feels more like skating on a frozen pond.
In addition to the skating sessions, the authorities also offer the Zoo's annual holiday celebration, Reindeer Romp, where patrons can visit Santa's reindeer and enjoy other festive activities through January 3, 2010. You can also send your kids to the Winter ZooCamp that will be run daily from December 28, 2009 through January 1, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youngsters can view animal feeding along with participating in crafts, games, activities and a tour that is full of fun and knowledge of the natural world.
