LiveFuels' fishing for biofuels might anger PETA!

Though PETA might frown at the prospect, environmentalists elsewhere, feeling threatened by the power crunch, will certainly welcome the LiveFuels’ proposal to cultivate algae in open waters. The Texas based energy-harvester is setting up a 45-acre algae biofuels pilot project at Brownsville’s saltwater pounds. Well, why I included PETA in the beginning is the fact that the company foresees a scenario wherein algae-eating fish will be processed for their oil.

It’s defiantly in opposition to the conventional method of growing algae in closed photo-bioreactor systems wherein algal growths are utilized to produce biofuel. Also, the patent-pending initiative makes use of agricultural wastes in place of commonly exploited industrial waste.

It remains to be seen which type of algae-consuming fish suits the project. Definitely, the project is going to have some reverberations in near future since LiveFuels eyes coastal Louisiana as a prospect site. In the end of it all, does PETA listen or is it still busy endorsing nude campaigns somewhere else?
