Little angels flaunt trash dresses at Richland Moon Festival

Under the guidance of Yichien Cooper, who runs private art classes, young students learned the art of giving a meaningful transformation to trash. The little angels were taught to make beautiful dresses from materials that you would consider nothing more than rubbish. Six young models walked the runway at the Moon Festival in Richland wearing amazing recycled dresses made using stuff like newspapers, chip bags and garbage can liners.

Cooper, an adjunct professor at WSU Tri-Cities, was suggested by Elizabeth Nagel, academic director of education at Washington State University Tri-Cities, to get students together and make the right use of her creativity and art. As a result, she settled on having 12 middle school students at her private art studio, creating dresses under her pilot program. The stunning outfits included a ruffle dress made using comic strips, a bag dress, a strapless cocktail dress made from duct tape and newspapers, a flared skirt made by sewing trash and a tank top from a ruffled top. What an exceptionally amazing way to make environmentalists out of little kids.
