The Deepwater Horizon oil spill – an eco-disaster hurled by BP and Transocean Ltd – has polluted the Gulf of Mexico with an estimated 210,000–1,100,000 US gallon of crude. Accordingly, researchers and designers came up with various cleanup measures, which include blocking off bays and estuaries, using anchored barriers and floating booms along shorelines, for speedy cleanup of the oil spill. Now this time, a recycled PET plastic bottles-made contraption dubbed Oil Fence comes to the rescue.

The machination, conceived by designer Min A Namgung, not only combats oil slick by restricting the spill, but also denies trashed bottles their chance to deck a landfill for good.
