Intermodal Transit Hub drapes itself in solar panels for power-adequacy

LA-based junior architect, artist and industrial designer Carl Burdick knows it well that ‘solar’ needs to be an inseparable part of all future constructions if we are serious about reducing our and our creation’s carbon footprint. Combining it with a design for a regional bus and high-speed rail transit station, he proposes to embed the roof of the center named Intermodal Transit Hub with thin film photovoltaic cells – preferably from DuPont – to make the construction self-reliant. The architect also hopes to re-establish trains as a mode of mass-transit, which is very much in contrast to a car-dominated world.

An elevated highway will be there to lend a structural robustness to the construction. The composite roofing technology will also allow sufficient natural light to seep through it and reach the underground train tunnels.
