The InterContinental New York Times Square is on its way to becoming the largest hotel to achieve LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Counsel. The 36-story structure will incorporate green features like green roofs with drought-tolerant, low-maintenance plants and sustainable materials such as roofing with low solar heat gain. In order to boost the green credentials, the Gensler-designed property will also include large windows to maximize natural day lighting and an energy-generating elevator system.
Jeffrey Beers International has been appointed to do the interiors. The tall building will have floor-to-ceiling windows with as many as 607 guest rooms. The French bistro-inspired restaurant, which encompasses a private dining space and a dynamic bar overlooking Broadway, will give a warm invitation to the visitors. Giving extra comfort and pleasure to the guests, the hotel will flaunt its amenities like a concierge lounge, fitness center, a courtyard viewing garden in the lobby complete with reflecting pool and sculptures, and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
