While hoping to deflect our mind from oil spills, melting icebergs and polluted cityscapes, MOS Architects have created a site-specific installation for the U.S. Pavilion at the Venice Biennale’s Architecture Exhibition. The sculpture, dubbed as Instant Untitled, is actually an urban fabrication made out of helium balloons. Seven architects and collectives working on the project made sure that the installation continues to exist with the smallest possible carbon footprint.

Designed for the courtyard of the pavilion, the installation contains a suspended cluster of mylar weather balloons inflated with helium to form a canopy that will shade the crowd. At the same time, it will lend a green gradation to the outdoors.
