Greendix introduces world’s first solar powered football

Greendix, the Taiwan based solar panel designer and manufacturer, has definitely pushed the limits of what is possible with solar panels with the introduction of world’s first solar powered football. This solar football is being sold by Sonelis Technologies in the North and South America. In an attempt to prove that solar power can be seamlessly integrated into any imaginable device used on daily basis, Greendix installed solar cells that emit a sound and have a motion sensor device into a football. The design breakthrough comprises replacement of conventional black pentagonal-shaped leather patches with solar cells of the same size and shape. The solar panels power built-in motion sensors and audio device which emits sound every time the ball is kicked enabling visually impaired as well to play football one day.

Joseph Lin, President of Greendix, said…

The main goal of this project was to prove that solar panels can be integrated into any object that we interact with on a daily basis and to push the limits of what is possible with solar panels.

Michael Yu, Director of Technology at Sonelis Technologies, cited…

In the future, footballs could be integrated with other sensor or LEDs and get their power from the sun.
