As summer has arrived in Britain, it is time to come out and enjoy the sunshine. Where an average English family spends up to 45 hours a week on their couches at home, the green outdoor sofas –made from natural materials like grass and turf – lying sprawled all along the gardens and mansions across the UK are urging the Britons to feel the difference. The National Trust has installed quite a number of open-air sitting rooms that contain these sofas.

Each outdoor living room takes just over a month to grow and houses a natural coffee table and sofa. Each sofa is weaved around a base of straw, which is watered and trimmed to size. Later, the sofa is covered in a grass blanket. The Trust has placed them over 300 special places, which also includes Wembury Point, in Devon. The sofa will be there for two weeks from 23 July 2010.
