Eco-graffiti: Green trend takes over urban streets

Desh Raj SharmaJun 24 2009

Green-freaks worldwide are doing their best to green the planet. Some suggest solutions to minimize emissions and promote vegetarianism, while some hug the wildlife. Others are more concerned about graver environmental issues like, climate change, genetic engineering, global warming and overpopulation. However, here is a completely different green-wagon of the graffiti-artists seeking to promote a new trend i.e. Eco-graffiti.

Being the brainchild of Anna Garforth, Andy Goldsworthy and Edina Tokodi, their works have inspired so many eco-lovers to appreciate the art and think green. The drift is fast developing into a revolution wherein the street artists and others are coming up with some real, masterful strokes. The art includes cutting and shaping of green material to beautify urban landscapes where you hardly see a green patch. The other method is to create a gel-like paste from moss and to apply it to a chosen surface.

Here, we’ve compiled a selection of such unparalleled works of art. This compelling and overwhelming collection will certainly make you think of your contribution toward greening the planet.
