Leonie Plowright will soon appear in the final of Miss Earth, a contest that recognizes the environmental work of the contestants. She contributes to the environment with her recycling scheme at the Kettering electronics distributor where she works and makes or modifies her own clothes to cut down the amount of resources she uses.

This green goddess hailing from Northumberland Road in Kettering hopes to win the contest for which her green credentials will be put to test. Wining the contest to be held on August 22 is not going to be a cakewalk, she will have to plant trees, devise an environmental slogan and wear a dress she has made from recycled materials in order to fulfill her dreams. The slogan that she has devised for the Miss Earth contest is ‘Green is the New Black’.

If Plowright does succeed in her efforts and slams the first position, she will go on to the international final in the Philippines in September. Apart from the Miss Earth contest, she got through to the final of Miss Northamptonshire earlier this year and has also secured her place in the semi-final of Glamour Girl of the Year to be held on August 19.
