Green Burials: From sustainability to a respectable living!

Desh Raj SharmaSep 3 2009

Making a living out of the crematory practices is nothing new, but to modify them green is perfect undoubtedly. Exemplifying it, Scott Ahlgrim of Ahlgrim Funeral Home in Elmhurst and Steve Dawson of Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home suggest some eco-burial measures to minimize the afterlife impact of the deceased. He expounds decomposable caskets made from bamboo, willow branches or the banana leaves.

There are a lot of people, I have a feeling, that will be insisting upon this. A lot of folks are earth conscious.

Says Steve Dawson.

People have shown special concern toward carbon emissions, crematory toxins and funeral litter. So, green burial supporting handmade caskets is fast developing into a trend. Such caskets decompose naturally with the body into the ground.

The Green Burial Council of Illinois has certified Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home as the green burial provider for its supportive stance toward eco-friendly cremations and burials.
