'Green Revolution', a Smithsonian travelling exhibition talks about recycling and alternative energy. To explain the advantages of recycling, all the material used in the text and 3D display has been made out of recycled waste. The three main people who have made the greatest contribution in terms of ideas to this concept are Museum Curator Kimberly Kenney, Science Director Lynette Reiner and Facilities Manager Steve Secrest. While Kenney recycled material and printed text panels on the recycled cardboard, Reiner looked after the arrangements for material suppliers and raised loan for the composting toilet and a solar refrigerator. In addition, Reiner made arrangements for insulation prepared from newspapers and denim jeans and chairs from recycled milk jugs. Secrest created unique displays such as the rain garden, wherein rain water was routed over a small structure, trapped in a gutter, filled up in a barrel and then recirculated.

The total exhibition is categorized into five different sections - “Carbon Footprint,” “Composting and Gardening,” “Energy,” “Hybrid House” and “Waste Not.” All these sections and modules mainly concentrate on tips as to how can energy consumption be curtailed and waste recycled to make this planet green and safe. In order to ensure greater involvement from the side of visitors, the entire exhibition has been scheduled day-wise and novel names have been given to each scheduled slot. For example, Summer Science Splash is to be held between 4 pm and 9 pm on 8 July, 2011 and Science Samplers Summer camp would be held between 11 and 13 July 2011. 'Soup at Six' has been scheduled at 6 pm on 18 August, 2011. All these program slots will talk about different things such as landfills and their effects, as well as Ecology Day and Solar Energy Day. However, the irony today is that everyone is aware of the advantages of a greener life but no one actually seems to care. People always tend to find the easy way, no matter where it leads to. 'Green Revolution' will unveil the forgotten ways to lead a better life, better for all! These kinds of exhibitions are the need of the day when we all are getting affected from the extreme burden of global warming. We wish this exhibition accomplishes its motive of inspiring visitors to live a life that goes in harmony with nature.
