The proposed Wal-Mart store in Galt will flaunt certain eco-friendly aspects in its construction and further maintenance as well. In the recently released plan for a 133,279-square-foot store on approximately 11.26 acres at the southeast corner of Twin Cities Road and Fermoy Way in the City of Galt, California, the tags like recycled, renewable and sustainable reign supreme.

According to the reports, Wal-Mart hopes to make use of 100 percent recycled structural steel in erecting the building. Sawmill waste products will be utilized to make cabinets, counters and baseboards. Moreover, the planner will recycle oil, tires, auto batteries, cardboard, vegetable oil, single-use cameras, plastic waste and silver from photo processing for the construction.
A high-efficiency air conditioning system, a dehumidification system, freezer doors with film to reduce condensation will add to its sustainability aspect. White roofs for solar reflectivity, daylight harvesting and energy efficient lighting will try to keep it off the grid. The plaza, proposed in the plan, will include a clock tower, seating and trees, including red maples, Chinese hackberry and Bradford pears.
