It is alarming to know that food crops - the major ones - in the predicted future conditions of greenhouse gas effects will not be yield by the amount it was previously expected.

Growing trials of five major food crops are made in open-air field under carbon-dioxide levels projected for the future. But, this is harvesting dramatically less bounty than those raised in earlier greenhouse and other enclosed test conditions! This has left the scientists dreading that global food supplies could be at risk without changes in production strategies.

The crop yields are found to be running at about 50 percent below what was concluded previously from enclosed test conditions, the analysis revealed.
