One can only imagine the energy woes that Third World countries like Vietnam battle with on a daily basis. However, one particular medical institution in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Nam decided to go off grid to deal effectively with the problem of frequent power cuts. The hospital has become the first in the country to deploy SIPV, or Smart Integrating PV Technology, to maintain a constant power supply within its premises.

The SIPV uses a range of renewable energy resources including PV to generate electricity. The device is a complete solution for grid connected establishments. It is particularly useful in the case of blackouts and also guards against erratic fluctuations in the grid power supply. Interestingly, the new technology not only guarantees local power supply at low cost but also helps feed the grid too.
