Meredith Management’s John Rosenthal proposes to install 1,200 solar panels atop the 4.5 acre, $500 million Fenway Center complex in Boston that will go on to produce up to 650 kilowatts. The energy generated will amply power 100 apartments and a spanking new commuter rail station. Rosenthal contemplates that state and federal tax credits will help him compensate the expenses incurred on the $7.5 million solar array within four years hopefully.

The complex consists of 330 apartments, a 1,300-car garage, office space and stores. The roof-mounted solar panels will be visible to passersby, who can also access the kiosk implanted at the rail station to see how solar panels are powering the station. Still, the largest privately built solar array in making awaits final approval from the state Department of Transportation.
