Eye-catching artful installation converts Lima’s historical center into a park

Architects Genaro Alva, Denise Ampuero and Gloria Andrea Rojas in collaboration with industrial designer Claudia Ampuero Great have designed an amazing park to make Peru’s capital city more livable. Called as “Green Invasion”, the project aims as educating the inhabitants of Lima about the impact of loosing public areas and green recreational spots for massive concrete jungles. The concrete filled Pasaje Encarnacion has been converted into a magnificent park by simply bringing recycled tires, plastic and lots of grass into action.

Green Invasion was designed specially for a contest that was a part of the Gran Semana de Lima or Lima’s Great Week, an event that aimed to recover the historical center of Lima. The project was one of the winners at the contest. It is anticipated that after the event, the installation was left in the neighborhood where local organizations and people were invited to add plants and items to the park. This innovative and eye-catching artful creation succeeded in creating new life in the streets.
