Honda Motor Co unveiled on Tuesday unveiled an all-electric scooter aimed at mass-marketing zero-emission motorbikes. Targeting domestic business customers like pizza delivery services, this launching is a step towards preserving the environment. Dubbed the “EV-neo”, the prototype was set out on display at the company’s research and development center in Wako, suburban Tokyo. The Japanese auto maker is claiming its new electric motorcycle to be quiet and clean with low-carbon impact.

A lithium-ion battery is responsible to give the EV-neo performances equivalent to that of a 50cc petrol engine. The silent zero-emission two-wheeler accelerates to a speed of up to 30 kilometers per hour. The battery takes nearly four hours to charge completely and lets the bike travel 30 kilometers with it. When in a hurry and you require a rapid-charge, the battery just takes 20 minutes to give you 80 percent of capacity. There is no word regarding the price of the scooter, but there are plan to start leasing the scooter to Japanese companies from December 2010.
